Duffy: No American Flag, No American Taxpayer Dollars

Press Release

Date: March 31, 2015
Location: Washington, DC

U.S. Congressman Sean Duffy (WI-07) introduced H.R. 1691, the No Federal Funds Without the American Flag Act. Simply put, the bill restricts federal assistance to higher education institutions that ban the display of the American flag on campus.

Rep. Duffy offered, "If a school chooses not to display the American flag, it also chooses not to receive American taxpayer dollars."

The legislation was crafted after students at the University of California-Irvine voted to remove the American flag from an on-campus building.

Upon news that the decision was reversed, Rep. Duffy continued, "I'm glad this ban was quickly revered by the student body's executive cabinet. However, we have a duty to ensure this never happens again."
